Creatrix Books is Out of Business

January 2, 2010 by Deb

I am very saddened by the loss of Creatrix Books! (They’ve been stepping back for awhile now, but as of last month, at least, their website is no longer up.) It was a tiny publishing company with a big heart and even grander goals. Both Carol and Kat believed in what they were doing as well as the authors they published. I’m sorry to see them go and am so grateful for the opportunity they gave Kerrigan!

There are still copies of Legacy available on Amazon as well as other various and sundry venues on the internet.

Well, off to figure out how to resubmit a published work for re-publication. The fun never ends!

Booksigning at Ravenworks!

May 9, 2009 by Deb

In a rare public appearance, Kerrigan will be dusting off her book and presenting it at Ravenworks in Madison, Wisconsin this upcoming Friday. More info here.

From the Ravenworks website:

On May 15th at 3 and 6pm, Ravenworks will be hosting author Kerrigan Valentine and a reading of her amazing women’s fantasy “Legacy”. Legacy, a story of one woman’s rise to personal empowerment, is a rich exploration of matrifocal culture and the power of women as warriors and spiritual beings. Kerrigan, who will be in from California, will be on hand to read and sign copies of her book.

New Look

Well, we’ve gotten on the “new and improved” bandwagon and done a bit of tinkering with the website. A new theme will work wonders! We’ve still got a few things to fix here and there, but no time like the present to say “come on in and see what you think.” Just watch out for the fresh paint!

Enjoy!

[Note: Many thanks to Chris for his invaluable help with said website tinkering! Hooray for friends of the web geekery persuasion!]

Back on Amazon . . .

. . . or, A Tale of Distributors Lost and Distributors Found.

Good news!!! Legacy is back in stock on Amazon! Oh joyous day!

A few months ago, Creatrix Books, the publisher of Legacy, lost its distributor as Book World closed its doors. It’s not easy for a small press in a big publishing world to find another distributor. So, the months dragged by. Legacy was even out of stock at Amazon when Kerrigan’s interview came out in Curve Magazine. A frustrating turn of events to say the least! After many agonizing weeks and much searching, Creatrix finally found a new distribution home at Atlas Books — but Atlas said it would take six to ten weeks to get books back in stock! That meant even more time waiting for Legacy to be available again. We despaired of seeing the ranking numbers go up ever again.

Well, Legacy is back in stock — but we need your help to get those ranking numbers back up! Please buy Legacy and recommend it to your friends and help us keep the book alive on Amazon.

Kerrigan interviewed by Curve Magazine

Kerrigan is a featured author in Curve Magazine’s latest issue. Check it out!

Fantasy Author Kerrigan Valentine Enchants Us by Colleen McCaffrey

Kerrigan Valentine’s debut novel, Legacy, reads like a modern-day, feminist fairy tale—complete with valley girls, patriarchy, women warriors and all-women campgrounds. The characters are complex, fierce and on a mission. Valentine started the book at the blossoming age of 14 as a series of short stories, but it was post-college feminism that cajoled her into finishing what she had always felt was an incomplete story. Legacy is intended for audiences ages 11 and up, and I managed to put the book down long enough to distract Valentine from her second novel, an adult science fiction, to pick her brain and bear witness to her confession that she hid Curve magazine in her closet as a teenager.
